The Fast Times

What’s Happening on the Weekend of October 27 + 28?

Brad Groombridge
One of these highlights from the coming weekend will definitely keep you busy, whether it sees you in the saddle, at the bunting, or on the couch.

The Weekend

Burt Farm Trail Ride

When it comes to riding in the Bay of Plenty, the Burt Farm is always one of the first choices for locals, whether it’s racin’ or ridin’. That’s ’cause the place is just so much fun to ride.

If you haven’t ridden the place before, you can take our word for it: you’ll have an epic time. But locals – and riders that have been introduced to the trails by those rad enough to share the love – will know it’s always worth the trip. The trails are regularly changed up, and always groomed, so it’s suitable for riders of all ages and skill levels.

Now, go make the most of your weekend.

Boundary Buster

Alright, have you booked your spot? Trust us, when it comes to the likes of Offlimits’ Boundary Buster, it pays to get in early. That’s ’cause this event sells out in a matter of weeks.

In short, Boundary Buster is a two-day guided ride that lets “radventurers” have access the Waiouru Military Training Area – all four boundaries and 63,000 hectares of it. While you’ve probably driven or ridden past it, chances are you have never ridden through it, which is why it’s a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Just so you know, each day is limited to just 150 riders, and that’s why you should book your spot, like, now.

The Race

Acerbis 4 Hour + Motomuck Junior 90 Race

Make no mistake, Epic Events runs some pretty epic events, most of which are the trail rides held in and around Lake Taupo. Along with the Suzuki Berm Buster and Western Blast trail rides, there’s also the Acerbis 4 Hour and Motomuck Junior 90, taking place this Saturday.

The cross-country endurance race sees those shredders race through forests, across old farm tracks and around dedicated trails that were made for the race, on the pumice-based terrain that the region does so well, for, you guessed it, four hours.

But not all riders will be charging through the trees and paddocks for the full 240 minutes, as competitors have the choice of racing in a two-person team. For those who like the challenge – something that an off-road cross-country endurance race is – there is the option of doing it alone. That’s what five-times winner Brad Groombridge chooses to do, and you still can do the same, too.

Learn it. Know it. Live it.
