One of these highlights from the coming weekend will definitely keep you busy, whether it sees you in the saddle, at the bunting, or on the couch.

The Weekend

Pirini Motorbike Park Ride Day

Each and every weekend, on alternating Saturdays and Sundays, Pirini Motorbike Park opens its track and trails to those who ride. This weekend, it’s the Saturday, September 15. The weather is looking perfect, so head down, over, or up to Pongakawa – just do what you’ve got to do.

Those in the know will be returning for another ride. For those who don’t, you can be sure you’ll have an epic day on the bike, on the first day of spring, no matter if you prefer the track or the trails.

This weekend, The Fast Times won’t be there. But, like always, snap a photo of “The Maverick” logo that’s pasted on the cabin, tag us on Instagram, and we’ll send you one. The first person to do so was Broxy, but he’s always been pretty quick.

The Radventure

Yeah, nah… this “radventure” isn’t taking place on this weekend. It’s more of a heads-up to plan one for an upcoming weekend, ’cause it’s never too early to start planning more rad times, right?

Back in November of 2017, we reported that Ben Townley had been seen on a KTM (and we were reprimanded for it, no less), the brand of bike that he rode to a world title in 2004. You can ride one, too, and right alongside the 101 of Townley. That’s because BT has just launched Ben Townley Tours, a dirt bike tour company that has a simple mission statement: to offer riders from around the globe an opportunity to ride some of the best motocross tracks and cross country trails this planet has to offer.

Depending on the package you choose, almost everything – outside of your flights – is covered. That’s accomodation, logistics, tracks fees, and, of course, bike rentals. So, does that sounds like a bit of you?

The Race

Paeroa College Schools TT Tournament

New Zealand Motocross

You feel that? We don’t just mean the warm rays of the sun, no. We mean the thrill of loading up the bike and your gear, before and heading off to ride in the sun. That’s ’cause the summer season of racing is just around the corner. With that comes a lot of events, including the kind that gets the moto groms a day off from school, all in the name of shredding.

Tomorrow, the Whyteline Limited Paeroa College School TT Tournament will see the books down and the front wheel up, making for a Friday to remember. With teams from loads of schools racing, the classes – from the 8-11 Years Trail Class through to the 12-18 Years 85cc Class and Women’s Open Class – will be stacked.

Now, as always, you need to support the next generation of racers. That’s ’cause the lifestyle is doomed without ’em, so make sure the hard work of the people behind the event and also those groms know they have your support, just by being on the bunting.

Learn it. Know it. Live it.
