One of these highlights from the coming weekend will definitely keep you busy, whether it sees you in the saddle, at the bunting, or on the couch.

The Ride

Pirini Motorbike Park Ride Day

Each and every weekend, on alternating Saturdays and Sundays, Pirini Motorbike Park opens its track and trails to those who ride. This weekend, it’s the Saturday, March 3. The weather is looking good, too, which means you should already be planning the trip down, over, or up to Pongakawa.

Those in the know will be returning for another ride. For those who don’t, you can be sure you’ll have an epic day on the bike, no matter if you prefer the track or the trails – and you’ll return for more, too.

Like always, if you see The Fast Times there, make sure to come grab a decal. If you don’t see us, snap a photo of “The Maverick” logo that’s pasted on the cabin, tag us on Instagram, and we’ll send you one. The first person to do so was Broxy, but he’s always been pretty quick.

The Ramps

Mike Pero MotoFest

Basically, if you head along to Mike Pero MotoFest, you’re going to have a whole lot to do. See, it’s not just a freestyle motocross exhibition by Levi Sherwood and his cohorts from the Franklin Farm. Since it’s a festival of all things two-wheeled, Motofest has everything from superbike racing, to that FMX show, and even a trail ride.

That’s right, dirt bikes riders can now say they’ve ridden at Hampton Downs Motorsports Park, even if they don’t have a set of motard wheels. It’s all due to the festival including an all-new trail ride, being held on land adjacent to Hampton Downs Motorsports Park. The Kawasaki Trail Ride will let riders – of all ages and skill levels – “cruise along the banks of the Waikato River, before enjoying undulating farmland and special play areas.” Basically, you get to go shred your dirt bike, in whole new terrain.

So, this Saturday, head to the Kawasaki Trail Ride – part of Mike Pero MotoFest – to enjoy the last Saturday of the summer.

The Reception

2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross

As we reported last Monday, the only constant in this season of Monster Energy AMA Supercross is the consistency of Jason Anderson. It was the same on this past weekend, with the holder of the red plate standing on the podium, keeping the championship points lead.

But it was Eli Tomac who took the win in Tampa, Florida, putting in yet another clinic. It’s another win for Tomac in 2018, which is coupled with just as many DNFs and DNSs, meaning he’s 65 points behind “El Hombre”.

This coming weekend, the ninth round takes the fastest supercross racers on the planet to Atlanta, Georgia, and marks the halfway point in the series. It’s a long season, one that can – and has – thrown some surprises at us, and a spanner in the works for the riders.

Learn it. Know it. Live it.
